How to effectively manage time

Time management can become challenging over time due to the increasing workload or responsibility at home. We might forget to take care of ourselves, procrastinate, and often show up late. Therefore, I ought to share with you some of the tips that helped me effectively manage my time!

1. Identify your top tasks

What are the top priorities at work? What is the most important goal or objective in your personal life? How many hours do you spend on each priority? Think about your goals and priorities and assign several hours to each. Any priorities that have lost importance due to time constraints can be put on hold. Do not allow yourself to slide back. Figure out why you work on each priority. Most of us have a personal drive to do what we love, but sometimes we take work priorities so seriously that we lose pleasure in what we are doing. It is okay to put yourself first sometimes and be sure to schedule time for family, exercise, and hobbies. Finding time to do something for yourself can increase the quality of your workday.

2. Make a to-do list

To help manage your time, create a to-do list. Write down all of the things you need to do each day or week, organize them in order of priority, and assign time to do them all.

3. Prioritize the most important tasks

Prioritizing the most important tasks is a quick practice that can help you save time. Picking the most important task is the first step to manage your time better. If you’re not sure which tasks to prioritize, you can take the time to examine which is more important to you. Set specific deadlines for the most critical tasks to ensure they are completed on time. This will help you achieve your goals much faster. When you set a deadline, you should also set specific goals to help you achieve that deadline.

4. Eliminate distractions

We now have more things in our hands, and some technologies give us instantaneous access to information. Put your phone on silent and avoid using it the moment you wake up. Replace time-wasting activities with high-value activities. Make your interactions meaningful and face-to-face, rather than online. Set your priorities to make sure to define what you value in your life. Make social media voluntary and void multitasking!

5. Reward yourself when you complete a task

This is one of the most effective time management tips you can take. Instead of angrily doing an assignment, reward yourself for doing a job. Going out to a café or watching an episode of your favourite show can be a great way to let yourself know you deserve a break. However, it is necessary to separate your personal and professional life to set appropriate times for each. When in the workplace, set yourself deadlines for specific tasks and keep a daily schedule in the back of your mind to keep you on track.
